Comment deadlinePassed: the City Council hearing was Tue Oct 13.

What's proposed

A new Specific Use Permit (Ordinance No. 2467) so the existing collision, paint and body shop can keep operating after a name change from Joe Hudson's Collision Center to Gerber Collision & Glass. The owner, JHCC Texas Holdings LLC, is the same; Euless requires a new SUP in TX-10 when the business name changes. The prior SUP was Ordinance No. 2371 (Jan 23, 2024). About 7,960 sq ft of buildings and an 18,000 sq ft fenced outdoor area for vehicles awaiting repair, towed cars and total-loss cars. Hours Mon–Fri 8 AM–5 PM, about 10 employees.

Staff recommendation

"Approval," with conditions: tied to the Gerber name and to JHCC Texas Holdings LLC; no outdoor service or repair; all stored vehicles, parts, tires and equipment fully screened from neighbors and the street, with tires kept indoors or covered; vehicles awaiting repair parked in the screened area; repaired cars moved to the front lot only on pickup day; fuel limits for vehicles inside the building (1/4 tank or 5 gallons each, 30 gallons total); no engine or transmission overhauls; revocable if conditions are broken.

Who it helps or hurts

Adjacent single-family / residential ownersNeutral

The use already exists and the conditions are the same kind as before. The city's map shows R-1 single-family zoning near the site, including along Simmons Drive, so screening and noise from painting and body work are what nearby homeowners would watch.

Nearby commercial / land investorsNeutral

An existing auto use continuing on the TX-10 corridor.

Within about 1,000 feet

TX-10 commercial frontage along W. Euless Boulevard; R-1 single-family zoning around Simmons Drive and Skyway Drive.

Watch for

  • The fence is a mix of slatted chain-link, corrugated steel, wood and brick about 8 ft high; the applicant says the gate material is "to be confirmed." Screening quality is the usual point to raise.
  • Hours are not limited in the conditions (the stated hours are Mon–Fri 8–5).
  • The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval 6-0 on Sep 15, 2026. The applicant did not attend; no one spoke.
  • Letters went to owners within 200 ft; staff reported zero responses.
